Cybersecurity Network Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

Implement and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security appliances for network security.
Design and implement secure network architectures, adhering to principles like the Zero Trust model.
Utilize encryption protocols to secure data in transit and at rest.
Configure and maintain Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) for secure remote access.
Harden network infrastructure by implementing security best practices.
Use Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools for monitoring and responding to security incidents.
Develop and execute incident response plans.
Conduct penetration tests to identify and address vulnerabilities in network systems.
Implement and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
Ensure timely application of security patches to network devices.
Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s, Honour’s, or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Proven experience in network engineering and cybersecurity roles.
Knowledge of industry-specific compliance requirements (e.g., POPIA, GDPR).
Skills:

Certifications: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, CISM.
Strong communication skills for conveying complex security concepts.
Analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing security challenges.
Ability to collaborate with other IT teams and departments.
Commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with cybersecurity trends.
Cloud Security (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Scripting and Automation (e.g., Python).
Network Forensics.
Wireless Security.
